Yules Tides & Noel

This is a little poem that I wrote which I like to call: the year of an ode to Paul

The Year of an Ode to Paul
Don’t tell me we’re up here going insane
Singing songs and wondering if we will see christmas again
Another year down, and so many to go, that much is clear
Since one day between then and now, I’ll disappear
Leave everyone drinking and dining together and celebrating yule tide noel
But nobody was paying attention to the bathroom floor, where I fell
I didn’t get up again for the rest of the day
Because I knew that shortly after, I would be going away
When we’ve finished ourselves off here, I don’t want to come back
Just like Steven and be amongst the stars when it all fades to black
I know that I’m leaving kindred souls behind me
One day soon I hope, we’ll have fun – the same age we will be
I hope that is something I outlive but will eventually get to see
But for now it’s auld lang syne my good man; shed no tears, for he
Come to pass at last and now he’s in the ground
Peacefully accomplished at rest, he doesn’t make a sound
Yet the echoes of his laughter I can still make out when I listen to the sky
I laugh along with him sometimes, then I have a little cry
The end of an era came down while I was only just coming of age
It’s only this one chapter yet, but oblivious we so are…

… as to when time will turn that final page

In Summary
It’s been a bit of a roller coaster. All the sad little kids who were finally glad to see the end of 2016 … had no idea at all what they were letting themselves in for. But, as with all crucial elements such as the truth, history is set-up hook line and sinker as it gets on to the youth

But the youth will still be there always. They are the future. They were the future. I was the future once

Merry Christmas, internet! And to all a good night xxx

and a tribute to everyone who feels their first christmas without that special someone in their lives

P.S. “Hallelujah Paul!” to Paul and Steven, united together again at long last, where Sirius beams through the atmosphere. I will never forget that night where I heard you both laughing in the dead of the night. I never laughed so hard and everything’s alright. It doesn’t matter who we are or what we were, or what legacy you may or may not have the desire to inflict on the world … because if that place where I go to in my dreams is real, then I’m there already, and in my dreams that all link together. I know I will see you sooner or later or whenever
